"What I’m getting out of the program is a guideline and a road map on where I want to take the practice. Chris’s ideas on how to run a practice are very similar to what I want to do. The difference is Chris knows how to get there and I don’t feel like making many mistakes on the way. So what I’m able to do by utilizing Chris and his ideas is to get to where I want to go a lot faster and more efficiently than the way I would have. I would encourage anybody who is interested in the program to do what I did, and talk to people who have already been through the program. He felt that strongly about it. It’s a big leap of faith, and it’s a big investment. But the difference is that this investment is a long-term investment. Unlike a lot of programs where you go for a weekend or for a month, the Brady Group is there for you for two years. So there’s a big investment that you make in them, but then the Brady Group is making a big investment in you. The beauty of the system is, you don’t go learn it and go home and try to figure it out. There’s a support group there. Not only, Chris and his people, but the other Doctors in the program as well. You’re all in the learning process together for two years, so there’s a lot of support to implement the different ideas. It is probably one of the few programs that I’ve never heard anything negative about, ever. And traveling as much as I do, you’ll hear a number of people who’ve trialed and errored through a number of consulting programs. The Brady Group program allows us to take the ideas of our goals and visions and find ways to meld that together in a model of how to get there. It’s the game plan. We had certain things we wanted to do in our lives; in our practice, but no game plan to get there and no coach to put us together as a team. I think we’ve been a lot like a team who occasionally calls a couple plays, but then the defense plays good, so we say that play didn’t work and we quit. We don’t refocus well and get back in the game plan. I’m a basketball player, and I think we’ve been running a pick up game for to long. (To another doctor who was thinking of starting the Brady Group program). “Spend time and give themselves a good vision of where they’ve been and where they want to go. You have to have a good feeling in your heart of where you want to go. Not really where you are now as much as where you want to go, so that you can match that goal with the abilities of somebody else to coach you there. If I wanted to play in a basketball offense where I could fly up and down the floor and really use my speed, I’d go to a certain college. If I wanted to use my height and my bulk I’d go to a certain college where they play slow offense and tuff defense. So I’d look for a team. I’d ask them to look for a team to coach them that would be similar to their goals.”

I think that everybody would be helped (by the program). I’ve learned that I thought I was a great communicator because I’m a great talker. I’ve learned that on the other hand, there’s much more to communication than what we have used and learned, and that’s very, very valuable.”

“We started the program originally because we wanted to accomplish the things Chris talks about: Working less, working smarter, being able to be more productive, be more cohesive as a group. And that was 2 ˝ ago now. When we finished the program we decided that we hadn’t completed integrating everything that we needed to. So we decided to reenter on the Graduate level to finish things up and put the frosting on the cake. And really finish the process and get it done. We have a practice that is a little bit different than the average one so integrating some of these things has been more of a challenge than it might be for a regular practice.”

(To another doctor who was thinking of starting the Brady Group program). “I’d ask them to look at where they are and see if that’s where they want to be. If they are happy with their staff and their production, and what its like to be in the office from 8-5 or whenever they practice, then I don’t know if it will do them any good. But if they’re not happy with any of those things…Chris’s program has been more effective for us than any other program and I’ve been a very extensive consumer of lots of programs. I’ve been frustrated with every one of them. And that’s not to say that I haven’t had frustrations with this one. I think every office that wants to change will find things that are uncomfortable and difficult. But in my experience, this has been the best and most consistent program, and although it has worked more slowly for us than I would have liked, it has done much more than all of the other programs put together. I’m glad to be part of the program, and I’m glad to be part of dentistry that is leading in the direction that I think patients want us to go.
